Coffee lucky dip 2018

What others have to say about their coffee catch ups ...

Hi Helga,

1. Something you've learnt (about yourself, the other person, about networking – anything you like!)

I learnt a lot from Anne who has a fascinating background and has lived in some amazing places – I knew little about Myanmar and have not had much time to study the history of the Rohingya Muslims but do think Aung San Suu Kyi is an amazing woman so was not surprised to hear the complexity of the politics and situation. Makes one very grateful to be living in such a beautiful place as the Sunshine Coast. I am also very appreciative of how welcoming people have been and so supportive.

2. Help that was offered (by you or for you)

Anne was incredibly generous with her offers of connection having been a long time local of the coast and shares my passion for developing others so I am sure the synergy has only just begun.

It was very funny that the very next day after our coffee we ran into each other at the airport – I love the way the universe works!

Hi Helga,

1. Something you've learnt (about yourself, the other person, about networking – anything you like!)

The interesting career path that Kathy has negotiated over the years that lead her to develop the programs that she now runs. As over half my working life has been in training and professional development, we have a similar passion for empowering people to achieve their potential.

2. Help that was offered (by you or for you)

- I suggested some possible useful strategic discussions for Kathy before making long lasting links with education providers.

- Kathy suggested we meet again just before Easter.

Thanks,

Anne

Hi Helga,

I think you either have a magic wand or the lucky dip jar is VERY LUCKY :)

Cassandra and I met this morning for our coffee catch up. Wow what a fantastic lucky dip match - absolutely delightful.

I learnt I love to think about and offer options to organisations where they are looking for partnerships and what may be a good match.

I learnt Cassandra is a highly motivated, clever, generous and kind person. There are similarities in challenges we face despite working in very different fields.

Networking is important to expand my thinking and gain different perspectives.

What did I learn about myself??

- love the opportunity to assist applicants who were challenged by the Williamson Community Leadership Program interview and offering opportunities to ensure they aren’t put off and apply again!

Cassandra’s help offered was exceptionally generous - link to a professional development opportunity / opportunity for reps of my org to see the workings of the St Vinnie’s soup kitchen.

- opportunity to be part of the CEO sleep out.

A great start to the day - very motivating

Thank you I sent out a message on our Williamson 2017 Whatsapp letting everyone know what a great experience this was.

Take care

Jenny

Hi Helga, I had a delightful meeting with Katherine. Thanks so much for 'matching' us. I have persuaded Katherine to join me at a Female Leadership event and I hope I was able to help her with some other suggestions re networks. It was good to act as a quasi-mentor – albeit briefly!

I also caught up with Naomi whom you matched me with last year. Another lovely meeting. Hoping I may have been able to connect Naomi with one of my contacts where there may be some mutual benefit and she has offered to promote, within her company, a public course which I am hoping to run next month.

So all good – thanks,

Cherry

This is the second year I have been part of the Coffee catch up run by Helga - a terrific initiative in a world where networking can be overwhelming but is so necessary and rewarding. I was matched with a delightful lady who I discovered shared a commute from Geelong/ Torquay to Melbourne every day.

The match was perfect but on the surface may have seemed far from it. We met and spoke easily on a broad range of things to a point we had to stop as time had got away from us. We chatted like old friends and we both shared things I am sure was not what we thought the conversation would be.

I walked away inspired by this young lady's self love, conviction to working with purpose which in turn gave me the desire to find a way to utilize my expertise and help this new friend on the next phase of her journey.

Tiffany

I really enjoyed meeting Jane and we will hopefully keep in touch.

Sally

I had a great coffee catch up with Tiffany in Geelong and I left with some homework to do - a mindmap of my business plan :)
